To further expand the industrial chain, the village has actively developed the Chinese toon industry this year, with a mode that connects the company and its base with the village collective and disabled households.
Currently, 13 mu (about 0.867 hectares) of Chinese toon are planted in Dongxiping Village. It is expected to produce more than 1,000 kilograms of Chinese toon sprouts annually, with an output value of over 100,000 yuan.

Planting Chinese toon trees not only brings economic income to the village collective, but also provides job opportunities for villagers at their doorstep.
Chinese toon trees have high economic value. Its sprouts are edible, which can bring economic benefits. In March next year, Chinese toon sprouts will be harvested and sold locally in Huayuan and nearby counties such as Baojing, Jishou, Songtao, and Xiushan.

“40% of revenue generated from planting Chinese toon trees are allocated as management fees and dividends for the village collective, 40% distributed to all those with disability certificates in the village, and 20% provided to help disabled and vulnerable households in the village, allowing everyone to share the dividends brought by the development of the Chinese toon industry,” said Ma Xiaoqing, the first secretary of Dongxiping Village in Huayuan Town.
In the future, the village will further expand the Chinese toon industrial chain, develop deep processing of Chinese toon, increase product added value, actively explore cultural and tourism projects such as sightseeing tourism and picking experience, making Chinese toon truly a ready source of money for villagers.
